Operation Seed to Harvest
Operation Seed to Harvest (OSTH) is both a program and a place. We are a faith-based program open to all of good heart. We strive to help children and teens build a firm foundation for daily living. Our lessons are centered around the garden and nature to help our youth learn about food, nature, leadership, ethics, and most of all about thankfulness in a safe and fun environment.
We are on a wonderful “farm” that provides us with many resources: ponds, nature trails, gathering areas, and a large garden we constructed where the children help care for and harvest fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers in season to tithe, eat, take home, share, and sell. We have more exciting projects in mind as OSTH programs for youth and teens continue to grow. OperationSeedToHarvest.com
Laurie's Dream Fund
Laurie Hutchinson lived out her dream as an equestrian at Whispering Hope Stables – www.whisperinghopestables.com every day. She developed a community of joy and compassion with her business partner, Amy Peters.
Laurie’s Dream Fund has been created with the guidance of Bert and Val Hutchinson and Steve and Amy Peters along with the board of Sara Making a Difference. This charitable fund has been created to support equestrians at Whispering Hope Stables and is a separate fund within the Sara Making a Difference umbrella to allow for all donations to be tax deductible.
The direction of the funds raised for Laurie’s Dream Fund is to provide financial support to trainees and members at Whispering Hope Stables as they pursue their own dreams. If you are interested in providing a donation to Laurie’s Dream Fund, please click here to donate.
WakeMed Children's Hospital Toy Drive
With the help of family and friends, hundreds of Christmas toys have been donated to WakeMed Children’s Hospital over these past years. Our goal is for each child to receive several toys as gifts and then receive more gifts from Santa Claus. No socks allowed unless they are really cute ones!
Having children choose many of the gifts to give is part of the magic of the Season and watching a child’s face light up in a moment of happiness in receiving the gifts is a most precious gift itself. WakeMed Children’s Hospital
Lemonade Stand for Men of Armor
On a warm summer afternoon in 2012, a bevy of willing and excited elementary school aged children with a purpose in mind manned a downtown Raleigh lemonade stand and raised almost $5,000 for Men of Armor. To make this project happen, the children met to learn about marketing and sales, customer service, and handling money. They worked together to make signs and plan their strategy. Then these hard-to-resist little salespeople went to work with happy smiles selling lemonade and brownies.
Men of Armor serves the community by reaching, connecting, and strengthening men to lead their families. Men of Armor also provides resources for one-on-one mentoring, events, and seminars that help men strengthen their families through biblical counseling. MenofArmor.com
